Anna & Jake’s Wedding at Chapel 1899 | Prudence Photography

Anna and Jake’s wedding at Chapel 1899 brought together their close family and friends for a day that moved from getting ready to an evening of dancing, all in one place. With eight hours of photography coverage, we had time to document the details, the people closest to them, and the moments that connected each part of the celebration. Their photographs tell that story through quiet bridal portraits, a chapel ceremony, playful outdoor portraits, and a reception filled with movement.
A wedding at Chapel 1899 in Wisconsin
Set in Wisconsin, near Fort Atkinson, Chapel 1899 is a restored historic church with a character that carries beautifully into wedding photographs. The building dates to 1899, and its preserved details give the setting a sense of history. For Anna and Jake, the chapel became the backdrop for both their vows and their celebration, keeping everyone together as the day unfolded.
The photographs show why this setting works so well for an intimate wedding: stained-glass windows, warm wooden floors, and an inviting interior with space for both formal moments and relaxed gatherings. Outside, the white chapel entrance gave us a classic portrait backdrop. Nearby weathered wood and stone added another texture to the couple’s photographs without losing the feeling of their Wisconsin setting.

Getting ready, with time for the small moments
Photography began at 1:00 p.m., with Anna getting ready at the venue. This part of the day gave us room to photograph the finishing touches as well as portraits once she was dressed. Her off-the-shoulder gown, long veil, and dried-flower bouquet came together beautifully in the bridal suite and lounge photographs. The mirror images preserve the preparations from another perspective, while her portraits on the leather sofa bring the focus back to Anna.
The getting-ready story also includes the people beside her. Helping hands, a shared smile, and a moment sitting together are part of the record of a wedding day, just as much as the dress and accessories. Jake arrived dressed and ready around 2:00 p.m., leaving time in the schedule for groom portraits, photographs with his parents, and the wedding bands before the ceremony. Anna and Jake chose to wait until the ceremony to see each other.

An intimate ceremony, surrounded by family
At 3:00 p.m., everyone gathered for the ceremony. With their family and friends seated close by, Anna and Jake stood together beneath the wooden ceremony arch. The chapel’s interior gave these photographs a warm, simple setting, keeping attention on the couple and the people who had come to witness their marriage.
We photographed their expressions, the moments with their officiant, and their ceremony kiss. Then came the walk back down the aisle together, with guests surrounding them. Those photographs mark a lovely transition in the gallery: the preparations are behind them, and the celebration of their marriage is beginning.

Family photographs and portraits around the venue
Following the ceremony, the afternoon included family group photographs and time for Anna and Jake’s portraits while guests enjoyed cocktail hour. Keeping the celebration at one venue made it possible to move between those parts of the day without a journey to another location. It also allowed the portraits to reflect the place they had chosen for their wedding.
Their outdoor photographs have a wonderful variety. Some are still and composed, with the couple standing beside the barn or stone wall. Others are playful, including an embrace from behind and a dip-and-kiss portrait. Anna’s veil and bouquet add detail, while the contrast between her gown, Jake’s gray suit, and the rustic backgrounds gives the images depth. Together, these photographs make room for both a classic wedding portrait and the couple’s own energy.

Dinner, cake, and the first dance
Guests began taking their seats ahead of the 5:00 p.m. dinner. Anna and Jake kept this transition relaxed, with a DJ announcement once they were seated instead of a formal grand entrance. Mark led the prayer before dinner, bringing another family connection into the evening.
Cake cutting followed at 5:30 p.m. The photographs pair the details of the cake and rings with the couple’s interactions: a kiss beside the cake and a champagne flute raised together. At 6:10 p.m., Anna and Jake took the floor for their first dance. These are the moments where a wedding gallery shifts from the structure of the afternoon toward the freedom of the evening.

Dancing into the evening
After the first dance, the floor opened to guests. Children, family, and friends joined the celebration, giving us candid photographs full of movement. The wooden floor and stained-glass windows remain visible throughout the reception images, while colorful dance lighting gives this part of the gallery its own atmosphere.
Coverage continued throughout the night, allowing the story to finish with the evening rather than stopping after the formal events. A nighttime portrait outside the chapel brings the collection back to the venue itself, with its illuminated windows framing Anna and Jake. From the first preparations to that final outdoor photograph, their wedding is a reminder of how much can unfold when a day is centered on the people who matter.

Congratulations, Anna and Jake, and thank you for trusting Prudence Photography to document your wedding day.
